The chair of the Canberra Multicultural Community Forum, Sam Wong, said multiculturalism had lost a true friend with the sudden death of former ACT Deputy Chief Minister and Attorney General Terry Connolly.
Mr Wong said that Mr Connolly, whose funeral is today, had been a strong supporter of the concept of multiculturalism. “He supported the introduction of the ACT Human Rights Act, for which the multicultural community will be forever grateful,” he said.
“We shall miss him, and our sympathies go out to his wife, Dr Helen Watchirs, and their two daughters.
Mr Connolly, who died while out cycling, aged 49, was an ACT Supreme Court judge.
