COORDINATOR: Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care – ACT

Part Time – 3 days per week (Fixed term contract – 30 June 2015)

The Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program equips aged care service providers to deliver culturally appropriate care to older people from culturally and linguistically (CALD) communities and is funded by the Department of Social Services. The Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra (MCCI) delivers the PICAC Program for both NSW and the ACT.

The PICAC ACT Coordinator position is based in Fyshwick and covers the ACT and southern NSW region The role includes the following:

  • Providing information, multicultural resources and free cultural competency training to the aged care sector
  • Improving opportunities for culturally appropriate aged care for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) older people
  • Working closely with the CALD communities in the region to support their greater understanding of, and access to, aged care services.

The successful applicant would be capable of using technology and travel to with the PICAC NSW team (based in Wollongong) to deliver, and further develop, the established PICAC program. They will have proven training, networking and coordination skills and experience in the aged care and multicultural arena.
