The Centenary of Canberra and the Canberra Multicultural Community Forum is hosting the harmony bus multicultural journey and open day, held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 9 November 2013. This event seeks to improve cultural respect and understanding by showcasing different cultures, performances and venues.

On the day, two Action buses will tour key cultural and religious venues across the region, on both the north and south side of Canberra. We will be celebrating the diversity harmony of the Canberra community. Most importantly, we will be having fun!!

We are looking for multicultural community organisations that can perform or host activities at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre in the City on Saturday 9 November 2013. If you are interested, please indicate: the name of the organisation, community involved and type of performance; a contact officer, including email and mobile details; and a preferred performance time. The Theo Notoras centre has some microphone, PA and audio equipment, but please include details of any additional equipment requirements. Not-for-profit organisations may be provided with a small donation to assist with participation in the event, so please indicate if this is required. Performance nominations are due by Friday 4 October 2013.

We also welcome a small number of community organisations to set up a food fundraiser stall outside the building. Any community organisation involved would need to provide all their own equipment, meet relevant food and safety standards and be approved by the ACT Department of Health. If you are interested, please indicate: the name of the organisation, community involved and type of stall; a contact officer, including email and mobile details; and any other relevant details.  If you are a multicultural community organisation that wished to perform at the Harmony event, but are unavailable on Saturday 9 November 2013, don’t worry!! CMCF is again co-hosting the ACT Multicultural Awards Gala Night, together with the ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs.  The Multicultural Gala Night is scheduled for Thursday 28 November 2013 at the Hellenic Club.  This year’s theme is ‘100 cultures’, so we are keen to involve a diverse range of community organisations. Starting at 7.30pm , this year’s ACT Multicultural Awards Gala Night will be a cocktail party for about 300 guest that will be finishing at about 9.30pm.
